Seminar: The Journey of the American Constitution: The Roots of the Articles and Amendments

Investigative journalist, military lawyer, and former Washington, D.C. prosecutor Jeffrey Scott Shapiro embarks on a 200-year journey, exploring the events that inspired the Articles and Amendments of the U.S. Constitution. Drawing from a project developed during his tenure as a senior U.S. official at Voice of America, Shapiro begins in 1585 with the Roanoke Colony, traversing Plymouth Rock, the British Civil Wars, and the Salem Witch Trials. The narrative then progresses to the 1700s, encompassing Colonial Taxation, the Boston Tea Party, and the American Revolutionary War. Shapiro concludes with the Philadelphia Constitutional Convention in 1789. Through an engaging visual presentation and detailed outlines, attendees will follow the chronological genesis of these events and their influence on the Federalist government and Separation of Powers Doctrine, as well as the fundamental rights protected in the Amendments. This program is being presented as a seminar with limited enrollment to foster discussion.

"When Jeffrey Shapiro was my student, I knew that he was special and would do amazing things. He has exceeded my highest expectations." Jeffrey S. Morton
