This year marks 86 years since the tragic events of November 9 & 10, 1938, known as Kristallnacht, or "The Night of Broken Glass." This two-day pogrom targeted Jews and Jewish institutions across Germany and its occupied territories. Holocaust scholars, notably Dr. Irving Berkowitz, recognize Kristallnacht as a pivotal step towards the Final Solution. Triggered by the assassination of a German diplomat in Paris by a Jewish teenager, the Nazis orchestrated a purportedly spontaneous uprising, resulting in the destruction of over 1,000 synagogues, 7,500 businesses, and the murder of 91 Jews. Join us as Dr. Berkowitz examines the origins and consequences of these atrocities, which symbolized the Nazis' systematic expulsion and extermination of Jews, marking the onset of the Holocaust.
