Today's art often embraces themes and styles that intentionally challenge norms, aiming to provoke and push boundaries. Amidst this, the question arises: Why Do We Make Art? Critics have dubbed 20th-century art as "the Shock of the New." This seminar-style discussion seeks to shift our perspective on art by examining past cultures' values, rituals, and religious rites, tracing their influence on artistic styles. Why is Greek art deemed "Classic," and why does Impressionism captivate? Through this lens, we explore how contemporary society's values manifest in paintings, sculptures, and new media artworks. A virtual gallery tour showcases recent artworks, providing the platform for heightened awareness and insightful reflections on the evolving nature of art. This program is being presented as a seminar with limited enrollment to foster discussion.
