Rabbi Paul Offenkrantz, an opera aficionado and distinguished professor of Music History, along with his acclaimed tenure as a child soloist at the Metropolitan Opera, will be leading a discussion on the remaining Live in HD telecasts of 2024. The lineup includes Jacques Offenbach's 'Les Contes d'Hoffmann' (The Tales of Hoffmann) — no familial connection to Offenkrantz himself — as well as 'Grounded,' a new opera by Tony Award-winning composer Jeanine Tesori, and Giacomo Puccini's classic 'Tosca.' Through the use of recorded musical excerpts and video footage, Rabbi Offenkrantz will entertain participants with anecdotes, insights, and a historical exploration of these works, focusing particularly on their enduring significance.
"I appreciated the presenter's passion and knowledge of opera, past and present." OLLI Patron
