The Story and Songs of Pete Seeger and the Weavers

Pete Seeger, alongside his wife Toshi, emerged as a stalwart troubadour for social justice, peace, and the environment. From his elite roots in New York and a visit to North Carolina where he discovered the 5-string banjo, Seeger founded iconic groups like the Almanac Singers and the Weavers and inspired generations. Despite facing McCarthy-era persecution and 10 years of blacklisting, he continued performing and advocating for causes he believed in until his passing in 2014 at age 94. This program beautifully blends Seeger's life story with live performances of his songs by Joan Friedenberg and Bill Bowen, known as the PinkSlip Duo. Audience sing-alongs are encouraged, with lyrics projected on-screen. Seeger's timeless classics, including “Turn, Turn Turn,” “Weemowah,” "Where Have All The Flowers Gone" and "If I Had A Hammer," remain poignant reminders of his enduring legacy.
