Jane Austen: Social Critic and Comedian   

Jane Austen was inspired by her father's religious faith, her mother's aristocratic pedigree, her sibling relationships, and her long struggle to become a published author. Austen emerged as a tough, socially and politically aware modern woman with a critical and comical voice. Her novels are loved by so many and are astonishingly relevant today. Austen will be introduced through portraits, photographs, and illustrations of significant locations and artifacts from her life. We’ll explore her friendships, loves, and rivalries, gaining insights into the larger-than-life characters, intricate plots, and evocative settings she created. Through this interactive experience, we’ll uncover her most famous works, placing it in the historical context of her time. Join us for an enriching experience, uncovering the life of a remarkable woman who left an indelible mark on literary history.
