The Life Journeys of the First Four Female Supreme Court Justices   

Sandra Day O'Connor, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Sonia Sotomayor, and Elena Kagan are the first four females to serve as Supreme Court Justices. Each had an interesting journey to her confirmation hearings and life appointment as a Supreme Court Justice. Sandra Day O'Connor was the first female Justice; the other women were "firsts" in other positions. Discover how each woman's family, early life, and education laid the foundation for the fortitude and other attributes that enabled them to overcome the hurdles in their lives. Get to know each woman's personality and characteristics from her own words and the perceptions of others. This lecture emphasizes the fascinating life journey of each Justice. Pictures and video clips via PowerPoint enhance this lecture.
