Guided Discussion: Philosophical Zombies and Schrodinger's Cat: A Search for the Soul in the Universe

What do we mean when we speak of the soul? Do we have a soul, and if so, where did it come from? Does the universe have a soul? In exploring this question, we will look at the dualism of classical Western religions, the materialism of modern science, and the idealism of Eastern religions and mysticism. In our exploration, we will study many thought experiments, from philosophical zombies to the ghost in the machine and from the Chinese room to Schrodinger's cat. Join us as we explore one of the most perplexing questions of religion, philosophy, and science. This program is being presented as a seminar with limited enrollment to foster discussion.

"He is informative, entertaining, and inclusive. We enjoyed his class immensely." - OLLI Patron.
