Somewhere between George Burns and George Carlin, the world changed; and did it ever! Comedy, both the content and the comedian, has always been an art form of creative expression that both shapes and reflects our changing society. This episode of "100 Years of Comedy" explores what happened that so dramatically moved us from the good old days of George Burns, Gracie Allen, Jack Benny, Bob Hope, and Lucy into an era of the more controversial comedians of the 1950s, 60s, and 70s such as Mort Sahl, Lenny Bruce, Joan Rivers, Richard Pryor, and George Carlin.
Lenny Dave is a nationally recognized comedy historian and speaker who has entertained audiences for over 35 years with interactive programs on classic, clean comedy. A board member of the Borscht Belt Museum and former president of the Association for Applied & Therapeutic Humor, he’s performed at the Red Skelton Entertainment Series and Oliver Hardy Festival.
