From ancient sea goddesses to seductive sirens, mermaids have long captivated artists and storytellers. But in Florida, surrounded by ocean lore, Spanish shipwrecks, and iconic Weeki Wachee mermaids, these mythical beings hold a special place in cultural history. This visually rich lecture explores mermaids in art, from medieval manuscripts to modern pop culture, revealing how they symbolize beauty, danger, and transformation. Dive into the art and myths that continue to inspire—and haunt—the imagination! This program is being presented as a seminar with limited enrollment to foster discussion.
