This course will trace the history of rock 'n roll music from its inception at the tail end of the Rhythm and Blues era (1940s to early 1950s) thru the street corner harmonies of the Doo Wopp era (1954-1963) and finally, the arrival of four young lads from Liverpool who brought with them the British Invasion. Appreciation of this music journey will be accomplished with lectures, audience participation, video, audio, and even special guest live surprises.
Dr. Don Teig has a lifelong passion for music, having sung with street corner vocal groups as a teenager and worked as a radio deejay for eight years on Connecticut’s WREF-AM/WDJF-FM, hosting “The Dr. Doo Wopp Show.” He also performed as a singer and rhythm guitarist with The Retrotones, opening for Sha Na Na, and wrote the original treatment for Lawdy Miss Clawdy: The Lloyd Price Musical.
Live In-Person with Video Catch-up. Available 2-3 business days after the live lecture.
