Seminar: Dealing With Overwhelming Anxiety: Insights From a Psychologist Holocaust Survivor

In this powerful deeply moving lecture, psychologist Bert Diament weaves together his personal traumatic memories and his mother’s stories with professional insights which have shaped his understanding of psychological coping mechanisms and resilience. The extraordinary courage and ingenuity of his mother, in the face of mortal danger, became important lessons in his counseling clients experiencing emotional challenges. His mother’s quick thinking, and ability to improvise, despite being a highly anxious person, modeled how to cope when experiencing overwhelming fear. His father’s abandonment as the family was about to be sent to a concentration camp led to other important psychological insights regarding family and marital dynamics. This program is being presented with limited enrollment to foster discussion.
